Cambodia wird im November in England und Deutschland veröffentlicht. Während der Hitparadenerfolg in England mit drei Singles und dem Album im August schon so gut wie vorbei war, konnte man in Deutschland Anfang Oktober Kids in America und Chequered Love beide noch in den Top 30 finden. Statt einer dritten Single aus dem Nummer-1-Album gibt es dafür mit Cambodia einen Vorgeschmack auf das kommende Album “Select”. Musikalisch ist Cambodia auch etwas poppiger geworden und wird von manchen Kritikern gerne mit Abba verglichen. Der Text handelt von einer unglücklichen Liebesgeschichte, in dem eine Frau ihren Mann im Krieg verliert.

Cambodia wird europaweit als 7”-Single veröffentlicht - nur in Deutschland gibt es zusätzlich noch eine 12”-Maxi-Single, die aber auch nur die Singleversion enthält. Definitiv nicht erhältlich war dieser Song lange Zeit in (Süd-)Korea. Die staatliche Zensur verbot die Veröffentlichung auf dem Album. Trotz Vietnam und auch trotz sonstigen Kriegtauma war Cambodia in Japan auf dem Album erlaubt - man als Single wählte man aber einen anderen Song.

Cambodia entwickelte sich europaweit zum massiven Charthit - in Frankreich verkaufte sich die Single sogar über 1 Million mal.




	Cambodia was released in November in all european countries. The chart success in England was nearly go by in August (with three singles and the album) whilst Kids in America and Chequered Love both still were in the Top 30 in Germany in the beginning of October. So instead of releasing a third single Cambodia was planned to make interest to the follow-up album Select. The music of Cambodia is more pop (some critics say Abba-style). The lyrics are about a sad love story in where a woment lost his man in war. Cambodia was released on 7” format elsewhere. A 12” single made in Germany was avaiable, but only contains the single version. This song was defintly not available in (South-)Korea. This song was cesored there and is not included on the Select-album. In Japan and USA the song also was not released as a single, but was avaiblable on the album. Cambodia became a major hit in Europe - in France the single sold over 1 million copies.
